Early Intervention, Diagnosis and Consultation with Hospitalization Section

The Early Intervention, Diagnosis and Consultation with Hospitalization Section is a subdivision of the IMSP Rehabilitation Center for Children, and aims to identify, consult, evaluate including functional and imaging, create an individual rehabilitation plan for children with neuromotor disabilities, with the following reference for the Physical Rehabilitation and Occupational Therapy sections and the Psycho-verbal Rehabilitation and Social Assistance section, provide counseling and training services to their families and provide accommodation with all the necessary necessities.

The purpose of the section is to provide an initial multidisciplinary consultation, if necessary, individual consultation of specialists, establish a clinical-functional diagnosis, develop an individual rehabilitation plan, evaluate the dynamics of the recovery process through repeated consultations, the mother’s school and develop recommendations for home recovery.

Specialists: Pediatrician, Pediatric Neurologist, Rehabilitation Physician, Medical Assistant.

The Early Intervention, Consultation and Diagnosis Department with hospitalization aims to achieve the following objectives:

Early intervention through complex rehabilitation services for children with identified neurological pathology and those in the risk group.
Multidisciplinary and holistic approach to the patient and family
Correction of neurological treatment tactics if necessary.
Performing instrumental diagnostic methods: EEG, NSG, USG, ECG.
The rehabilitation process based on objectives to achieve maximum possible independence
Integration of the child into society and increasing the quality of life of the child and the family.

Organization and functioning of the department

The internal organization of the spaces of the Department for children with disabilities corresponds to their specific and age-related needs, ensuring comfort and safety.

Children will be admitted to the department on a scheduled basis (with preventive telephone registration).

Children will be admitted by 12:00; discharge will be after 16:00. On the first and last day, the child will benefit from rehabilitation services in the Center.

Children in the department can benefit from 3-4 treatments per year (depending on severity).
Duration of a treatment course – up to 14 calendar days.
They can benefit from the full range of necessary procedures in the number of up to 4 types of sessions per day and with an emphasis on the motor or psycho-verbal field (consultation of specialists will not be taken into account) and physiotherapeutic procedures if necessary.

Referral of children with neuromotor disorders to the Rehabilitation Center for the provision of rehabilitation assistance is carried out based on the referral ticket (forma-027/e) of the CMC and the informed consent signed by one of the parents. The referral note will be accompanied by a detailed epicrisis from the child’s development record (form-112/e), a certificate of epidemiological status, a copy of the birth certificate, a copy of the medical conclusion for the child with a degree of disability from childhood to the age of 18 (form No.- 080/e) – if present.

At the time of hospitalization in the department, patients are examined by specialists from the multidisciplinary team: Pediatrician, Pediatric Neurologist, Rehabilitation Physician and Medical Assistant, to assess the child’s current level in all areas of development, social and family status, with the development of an individual rehabilitation program according to the indications and contraindications present.

Each child admitted to the department undergoes a complex assessment that consists of assessing the child’s somatic, neurological and psychological state; mental functions, individual cognitive, motor, sensory, communication, socio-emotional and adaptive capacities.

The capacity of the ward allows for the provision of recovery assistance to 30 children simultaneously with an attendant.

Children will be admitted to the ward with an attendant; the Center will provide 5 meals a day for both the child and the attendant.

The diet of patients and attendants is strictly according to the requirements and foods included in the list of those prohibited in the ward are not allowed. In case of violation of this requirement, the attending physician in agreement with the administration reserves the right to discharge the patient until the rehabilitation course is completed.

Department Activity

The Department’s activity is carried out in equipped spaces, for the implementation of the evaluation, diagnosis, rehabilitation and accommodation process: medical offices (neurologist, pediatrician, rehabilitation specialist), 11 rooms with the necessary furniture organized in separate blocks, every 2 rooms a sanitary block, a rest room for staff and an isolator.
