Department of Psycho-verbal Rehabilitation and Social Assistance

The Psycho-verbal Rehabilitation and Social Assistance Department is a subdivision of the Republican Rehabilitation Center for Children, which aims to enable/rehabilitate cognitive, behavioral functions, speech and communication deficits, psychological counseling and social assistance, etc.

The major goal of the department is to provide effective specialized services for the psycho-pedagogical and social recovery of children with disabilities, as early as possible. The department’s professionals will propose individual projects and services both for the purpose of medical rehabilitation, overcoming developmental delay, improving the general condition, as well as assisting the family in the process of adapting to the difficulties related to the child’s health and care problems.

Specialists: clinical psychologist, clinical speech therapist, clinical psychopedagogue, social assistant.

The department aims to achieve the following objectives:

• Psychopedagogical rehabilitation of children with disabilities and their integration into society.
• Restoring damaged functions or training the body’s compensatory mechanisms to achieve independence and a better quality of life for the patient.
• Prevention of disease progression and complications.
• Educating and re-educating the child and preparing him for self-care activities, schooling and integration into society.
• Multidisciplinary assistance to families in order to train them in child care and communication issues.
• Harmonizing the child-parent relationship and reducing the phenomenon of abandonment by providing assistance and counseling to the family in difficulty.

Department’s operation

The Department’s capacity allows recovery assistance during the day for up to 25 children.

Each child benefits from a complex assessment by the multidisciplinary team, in which the psycho-verbal state and behavioral disorders, the degree of cognitive, socio-emotional and adaptation impairment are established. As a result of the assessment, an individual rehabilitation program is drawn up.

The record of the child is made daily at his meetings in the Department by entering in the register of daily records of the meetings.

Children attend the Ward with or without a companion, depending on age, functional diagnosis and intellectual abilities.

Department’s activity

The activity of the Psycho-verbal Rehabilitation and Social Assistance Section is carried out in specially equipped spaces for the rehabilitation process: the offices for sessions with the psychologist, psychopedagogue and speech therapist. At the same time, the department has space adapted for food and rest for specialists.

The services offered in the department are adapted to the individual requirements of the child and the family, providing services of:

• Multidisciplinary or specialist assessment;
• Individual rehabilitation program;
• Speech therapist, psychologist, social worker, individual and group psychopedagogue services;
• Family information services;
• Connections with the social assitance in communities/schools
• Information, courses and seminars for parents and specialists;
